Allegory is like symbolism. Using one form to tell the story/meaning of another. Killing two birds with one stone, maybe. If it's not for school, you don't need a whole essay, brief or not, to understand. Take the novel "Animal Farm" by George Orwell, for example. The animals on the farm take over after getting rid of the humans. It was written to represent a era in Russia (Stalin or something like that). So the political aspects of the book were the political aspects of the the Stalin era.
