Yeah that's quite a bit, you should read your book on the diseases and etc. I can't help too much, my biology is rusty, haven't done it in a while.

sickle-cell anemia is basically a genetic mutation, or more specifically, a point mutation in the \(\beta\)-globin chain of haemoglobin, the amino acid, glutamic acid is replaced by valine at the sixth position. valine is hydrophobic, while glutamic acid is well, hydrophilic (water loving)
