Easy question? Easy Medal. -4 + 7x + 4 = 3y What is the constant of variation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 x = 3 y, getting easier!

OpenStudy (ranga):

Express y as a function of x. If y = kx then k is the constant of variation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I had never heard that term before, however.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[-4 + 7x + 4 = 3y\]4 and -4 cancel out.\[7x=3y\]Divide both sides by 3 to get y in terms of x.\[y=\frac{7}{3}x\]So the constant of variation is 7/3.
