What is the equation for this function?
Please help me in this
EW asymptotes
yup =c
do you know it?
Trying to remember, going in my hippocampus (long term memory part of the brain), I did this stuff 5 years ago haha.
Lol try to remember
Do you know what this certain unit is called?
Rational functions
First, let's figure out what is your function's form. \[y = \frac{ax+b}{cx+d}\] Then all we need is to find a,b,c,d. By using asymptotes
this function looks like f(x)=1/x
Ah linh is right, this rings a bell now :)
with shift
Using asymptotes, I found the function is \[y = \frac{5x+14}{x+2}\] If you need to guide how to solve, just reply. Or if you only need result, the above one is.
Timaa do you know what a rational function is?
We have 1 vertical asymptote is x = -2 and 1 horizontal asymptote is y = 5 :)
A rational function is a function of form \[f(x) = \frac{ g(x) }{ h(x) }\], where g(x) and h(x) are polynomials and h(x) cannot = 0. So lets look at the lines, the function is not defined when x = - 2, because otherwise the denominator cannot equal 0. A line that a curve approaches more and more closely is called an asymptote. The line x = - 2 is a vertical asymptote of the graph f(x). Where the graph is discontinuous at x = -2. So, right now we have f(x) = 1/ x + 2 x + 2 because the function is not defined when x + 2 = 0, x = -2 (vertical asymptote). Now the horizontal asymptote, here it's y = - 5....but I'm getting tired and have to finish my work, so I'll finish this off next time I'm on lol. I do believe linh gave you the right answer, seems like it would be that.
Thank you so much all of you! I am sorry I didn't reply. the computers battery died at that time, and then I just went to sleep. Again thanks for helping (:
