Which system of equations is represented by the graph? A) y = x plus 4, over x plus 2 y = x + 4 B) y = x plus 4, over x plus 2 y = x − 4 C) y = x minus 4, over x plus 2 y = x + 4 D) y = x minus 4, over x plus 2 y = x − 4
first the equation of the line, the two points (-1,-5) and (4,0) show that when x increases by 5, y increases by 5, the slope of a line is: \[\large{m=\frac{change~in~y}{change~in~x}}\] so the slope is 5/5 wich is 1 your options are in the y-intercept form y=mx+b, m is the slope, and b is the value of y when x is zero, so the equation is y=1x+(-4) or y=x-4
for the other equation the graph shows that the function is undefined when x=-2, the we know the equation looks like \[\large{y=\frac{something}{x+2}}\]
from here I also need some help (sorry), @Loser66 do you know how to solve this?
yes, if I'm correct
(4,0)
isn't it D? x-4?
alright, thanks!
