find the slope (1/2, 3) x1 = 1/2 and y1 = 3 (-4,-1) x2 = -4 and y2 = -1 slope(m) = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) now we sub slope(m) = (-1-3) / (-4-1/2) slope(m) = -4/(-8/2 - 1/2) slope(m) = -4/(-9/2) slope(m) = -4 * -2/9 slope(m) = 8/9 point slope form : y - y1 = m(x - x1) (-4,-1) x1 = -4 and y1 = -1 slope(m) = 8/9 now we sub y - (-1) = 8/9(x - (-4) y + 1 = 8/9(x + 4) any questions ?
