Student A silently reads a famous speech. Student B watches a video of the original speech being delivered to a crowd. How would the students' experiences differ? The text would allow Student A to understand the emotions of the speaker and the response of the audience. The video would be distracting. Students B would not fully appreciate the speaker's words and emotions. The video would allow Student B to hear the emotion in the speaker's voice and feel the impact the words had on the crowd. The words of the speech are the same in both cases. There would be no difference in the students' experiences.
I'm not really sure if it's the first one or the last one...
Imagine what it would be like for you if you were to do either - read the speech, or watch it. It's sort of like the difference between receiving an email from someone as opposed to talking to them in person. Hope that helps.
