Help!!! A student runs 100 meters in 11 seconds. What is the speed of the student? speed = distance over time; 1 mile = 1609 meters 9.1 miles per hour 16 miles per hour 20.3 miles per hour 24 miles per hour

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

Speed=distance /time

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

I know that 1km=0.6miles

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

And 1000metres=1km

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

So 1000metres=0.6miles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah i've been stuck on this for about 15 minutes

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

First convert metres/second to km/h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do i do that?

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

Multiply by 8/5

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

So then it's just a matter of converting km to miles

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

And we know that 1km=0.6of a mile

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

Do you see where I'm coming from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In a way but i'm kinda lost still.
