Daniel has 1 blue pencil and 5 yellow pencils in his backpack. He also has 2 pink erasers, 4 tan erasers, and 3 gray erasers in his backpack. If Daniel randomly selects one pencil and one eraser from his backpack, what is the probability that he will select a blue pencil and a tan eraser?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well for the pencils... you need to take the number of blue pencils and divide it by the total number of pencils to get the probabilty of getting a blue pencil

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would do the same for the eraser

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then i believe you would add the two probabilities together to get the probability that he will select a blue pencil and a tan eraser
