how should i start my essay?? my topic is Gandhi and theory is Britain discriminated India, and to fight against it, Gandhi showed his thought through non- violent actions.

OpenStudy (rose21):

How to start: In my essay I chose to write about Gandhi. You will read about how Britain discriminated India and how Gandhi showed his thought through non-violent actions. Then, write a couple of sentences about how Britain discriminated India. In the same paragraph write a few sentences about how they fought against it. In another paragraph write about how Gandhi showed his thought through non-violent actions. Then write 2 or 3 conclusion sentences about what you wrote.

Consider, also, whether a country less civilized than Britain would have succumbed to Gandhi's tactics. Would passive resistance have worked in former Soviet Union or Nazi Germany?

5 paragraphs 1. Introduction : a. Hook b. Introduce your topic (imagine that the readers don’t know anything about the topic) c. (Important) Include a thesis statement (a sentence in which you tell what you’re going to write about in your essay (in other words, it’s kind of a conclusion)) 2. Body (essay/main idea) 3. Body (essay/main idea) 4. Body (essay/main idea) 5. Conclusion (conclude your essay (form an opinion based on what you wrote in your body paragraphs)) In each body paragraph: Start with a topic sentence, end with a conclusion of whatever you wrote in that paragraph. Between the topic sentence and the conclusion would be your main idea of that paragraph…in one paragraph, you should ONLY include information that is related to your topic of the essay, your thesis statement, and the topic (the starting) of your paragraph. In your paragraph’s conclusion, you conclude and form opinions based on what you just wrote in that paragraph.
