Alright, I need help with this question.. "Using Dalton theory why cant a piece of copper be turned into gold? "

Dalton said that "Atoms are indivisible and indestructible". In other words, they are fixed/permanent units and cannot be changed. How would you - hypothetically - change an atom of copper into an atom of gold? HINT: think about atomic number
