OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

@wolfe8 Can this lifesaver save my life?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

@oldrin.bataku help please!

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

@sarah786 hey friend! any idea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dunno . but that might helped you ^^ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1855137/ environment affects the phenotype(external characters). eg. In the polar region bear and foxes have thick furr.. while n other regions they are normal. Whale is a mammal..but it has became water prone it various parts have turned like fishes..camel in dessert have hump to store water and flat feet so tht i doesnt sink n dessert.. http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080713011933AA4PAvL 1. When skin is exposed to UV light, the epidermis (outermost layer of skin) thickens to protect against damage. The melanocytes increase the amount of melanin they produce, which means the skin darkens. This explains why staying out in the sun longer results in a tan. Melanin absorbs UV light and helps prevent the UV light from damaging skin cells and other tissue below the skin.Large amounts of UV light can also damage DNA, which then changes the chemicals that the cells produce. These chemical changes result in the physical changes that our eyes see, including burning, skin aging, and wrinkles. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Give_two_examples_of_how_an_environmental_factor_can_affect_the_expression_of_a_phenotype Mutations alter an organisms genotype and occasionally this causes different phenotypes to appear. Most mutations have little effect on an organism's phenotype, health, or reproductive fitness An organism’s genotype is the set of genes that it carries. An organism’s phenotype is all of its observable characteristics—which are influenced both by its genotype and by the environment. Two examples: diet affects growth, temperature (a range from very hot to very cold) affects enzyme activity. http://www.chacha.com/question/can-you-give-two-examples-that-demonstrate-how-the-environment-can-interact-with-genotype-to-affect-an-organisms-phenotype

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

That looks too scary!@sarah786

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you don't need details . Just read that points which I mentioned .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you what is Phenotype ???

OpenStudy (potatoes.ramu):

Phenotype is basically the external appearance of an organism, without taking its genetic constitution into consideration, so the environment can definitely affect it :)

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Sorry I was asleep. Phenotype is the physical appearance you see on an organism. I would say, using a plant, how sunlight affects it. This might help you further: http://ag.arizona.edu/pubs/garden/mg/botany/environmental.html
