Find CD and EF, then determine if they are congruent...

OpenStudy (fionacndg):

here is the picture and answers.

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

Okay, so we first find the length of the sides of both triangles. By looking at the graph, we can see that each has a side of 3 units and another of 2 units:|dw:1389708265738:dw|

OpenStudy (fionacndg):

okay, so can we say they are congruent then?

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

Now we calculate the length of CD by Pythagoras:\[2^{2} + 3^{2} = 13\] Therefore,\[CD = \sqrt{13}\] Now we calculate the length of EF by Pythagoras:\[2^{2} + 3^{2} = 13\]Therefore, \[EF = \sqrt{13}\]Therefore, CD and EF are congruent, as they bother equal the square root of 13.

OpenStudy (fionacndg):

ohhhhhhhhhh thanks soooooo much! i understand now!

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

Cool cool! :D
