What would you recommend for someone who never studied math beyond Pre-Algebra?

If you need more math skills, there are a number of ways to get them. Otherwise, there are some statistics classes that can cover the college math requirement without needing a lot more in math.

Generally, no. But there are ways to help remember key items.

I know (very, very slightly) a guy who is a vet that had trouble with math in college. Becoming a vet is actually harder than becoming a doctor and they require you to take calculus. In the end, he passed math by memorizing all the formulas. Memory "tricks" or mnemonics can be very powerful ways to get through even the toughest subjects.
