The number of pencil used during a test is a type of which data? nominal qualitative ordinal qualitative discrete quantitative continuous quantitative Class rank (freshman, sophomore, etc.) is a type of which data? nominal qualitative ordinal qualitative discrete quantitative continuous quantitative

OpenStudy (judygreeneyes):

I would say it is ordinal qualitative since I think there are #1, #2, #3 that are on some scale in order of darkness (softness) of the graphite.

OpenStudy (judygreeneyes):

Just found a link that say yes, it is a scale of hardness: https://www.pencils.com/blog/hb-graphite-grading-scale/

OpenStudy (judygreeneyes):

and #2 does not necessarily mean a standard across all manufacturers and does not seem related to the actual hardness or darkness or amount of clay in the graphite, so it still seems not really quantitative to me.

thx!
