Anyone on here good at biology/geography earth science ish stuff? (yes, I know it's math)
yess
please post the link in chat and post this question in science. Thnx
Can you help me do this? I'm not exactly sure how you would do this exactly so I could at least use a few tips/pointers, please :) You are digging a hole in your backyard when you see a piece of fossilized bone in the dirt. How could you prove the age of the fossil? Design a procedure for determining the relative and absolute age of the bone.
Well the scientific approach would be to count the half lives of carbon-14 in the sample to determine how old it was, C-14 doesn't have to be the only one, I said this because it's like the textbook radioisotope
@ddog1437
@Jenna03 what else could be done?
Well when scientist look at fossilized bones, they first look or find out what animal that bone belongs to. Then they look at how eroded the bone is.
Does this sound ok so far? You could try to find out what the bone belongs to, then you could look at how eroded the bone is. Next, you could count the half lives of carbon-14 in the sample to determine how old it is.
