If the perimeter of a square is 94m, find its area. Please help me, emmyma.
Hi! So a square would have 4 equal sides. The perimeter is all the sides added up. To find how long one side of a square is, you would divide 94 ÷ 4 . What is 94 ÷ 4?
Then what about the area???
I will show you how to do that in just a second. First, you need to solve what 94 ÷ 4 is. :) I will not just give you the answer, but rather help you through it! That's what the site is all about.
THe answer to 94/4=23.5
Thanks for not just spooning it to me!:)
Great! The area is basically the length of a side times 2. So now that you know the length of a side, which is 23.5, you now need to solve 23.5 * 2. What is 23.5*2?
The answer would then be 47. I just have one question. Since the perimeter of a square is 4 times the one side(P=4s), then why do I just multiply it by two?
P=4s. Correct! The perimeter of a square is all the sides added up when the area of a square is a side times 2. So, the perimeter here is given, 94m, and the area is 47m. Here, the question asks what the area is, so the answer would be 47m!
I was also thining that area=side^2
Are you understanding it better now?
Yes, if you knew that, you can solve this problem easily. Thank you for the medal and good luck~! :)
I think so could i do a couple more problems with you if i tag u in?
Sure, but if they are the same concept of perimeter and area, then I don't think you will need my help. Go ahead and tag me in one more question and try doing your homework on your own using the tips I gave you!
