your friend hands you a graph. He says the graph either translate to x^3 or x^4. Explain to your friend how to tell if it is an even or odd function, and how to determine the amount the graph has been translated.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Replace x with 3. Then replace x with -3. If both results are the same, the function is even. If the results are different, the function is odd.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

@Memyselfmaria See the answer above?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I on't really understand what you mean.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What is an even function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the leading coefficient has and even exponent?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

No. Look at your definition again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x)=f(-x) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Yes. That is an even function. That is why I told you to replace x with 3 and with -3 and compare the results.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the y are the same right. f(3)=f(-3) ?
