Make the coefficients A, B, C respectively Multiply A & C together, in this case it is 8 Think of factors that multiply to give you 8 and add together to get B (in this case -6) -2 and -4 multiply to give positive eight, and add to give -6 so those are your factors Now simply write (x-2)(x-4) This process should work every time.
