1- (as mentioned by shrutipande9) The ability to retain a desired trait, such as the ability to survive cold winters or maybe the ability to repel parasites, and transfer it to other specimens.
2- If we are talking about animal clonation instead of plant clonation, then it is being worked on a way to clone a vital organ of a human or animal being using the stem cells, and save a life using that cloned organ.
