WILL FAN AND GIVE MEDAL Given a relation, how can you determine whether or not it is a function? List at least 2 different ways to come to that determination.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 could you help?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how would you define a function? it has something to do with outputs

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im sure one way is refered to as a vertical line test, but thats really impractical. visually nice to conceive of, but impractical to implement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 a function would be when the independent and dependent variables are directly related?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

not specific enough. a relation is directly related as well. a function is a relation such that there is only one dependant value for any given independant value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 okay...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your in good hands now amistre will take good care of you

|dw:1389813687076:dw| graphically, if we draw a vertical line and it hits the curve in more than 1 place, its not a function function only have one value for any given input
