PLEASE HELP! Knowing that you use 275 KWH from 7am-7pm and 265 KWH 7pm-7am, answer the question. How much have you paid on the NightTImer plan? NightTimer Plan: If more than 50% of usage is outside of 7pm-7am, then you have to pay the DayTimer rate for all power used between 7am-7pm. $0.06445/KWH DayTimer: As long as most power used if from 7am-7pm, then you receive a 20% discount on power usage between 7pm-7am. $0.06831/KWH

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

Fraction of total power used at night: $$ f=\cfrac{265}{265+275} $$ If \(f>0.5\) then use Daytime Plan. Use NightTimer plan otherwise Is f > 0.5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

Both Daytime and Nightimer plans say if most of the power used is between 7am-7pm then used the rates. Are you sure you copied the problem correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Daytime is 7am-7pm. NightTime is the opposite.

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

So Daytime plan says if most of power used is "outside" of 7pm-7am, which to me means 7am-7pm. Wouldn't you say that's what this means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Daytime starts at 7am. NightTime starts at 7pm.

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

Doesn't this seem to mean if most power used is between 7am and 7pm then you get the discount rate? DayTimer: As long as most power used \(is\) from 7am-7pm, then you receive a 20% discount on power usage between 7pm-7am.} Are you \(sure\) that the NightTimer plan shouldn't read: NightTimer Plan: If more than 50% of usage is outside of \(7\color{red}{a}m-7\color{red}{p}m\), then you have to pay the DayTimer rate for all power used between 7am-7pm.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.. I wrote it down correctly.

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

There was a misspelling in DayTimer, which I corrected. Did your question have "if" or "is"?
