7x-5=y Find a solution to the following equation. (pick the x then find the y. How do I solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have another equation that goes along with this? Since you already have a value for y, you could use that to plug in another equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well the number dosent have what x Equals and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its so confusing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, it says, "pick the x" so just choose any value you would like for x, and then find y. For example, my favorite number is 7, so I will use 7. 7(7) - 5 = y 49 - 5 = y y = 44

So i could use any number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, that was part of the instructions. I'm guessing you are in Algebra I? Your teacher probably wants you to practice plugging in numbers in equations.

Cool thanks so much!
