U need to use two ways to simplify:

$$(x^{a })^{b} = x^{a.b}
and  x^{a}.x^{b} = x^{a+b}$$

Argh it did not come out right :(

$$(x ^{a})^{b} = x^{a.b}$$

and

$$x ^{a}.x^{b} = x^{a+b}$$
