(Question is related to direct variation) The cost of oranges varies directly with the total mass bought. 2kg of oranges costs $4.50. a) describe the relationship in words b) write an equation relating the cost and the mass of the oranges. What does the constant of the variation repsresent? c) What is the cost of 30 kg of oranges?

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

for part a i wrote: 2kg of oranges costs $4.50

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

i dont really know how to do part b and c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cost = k (mass) find k k = cost/mass = $4.50/2 kg =$2.25 / kg now that you have k you can use the first equation I wrote to find the cost of any mass of oranges.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

oh okay so i just subsitute 30kg into the equation?

OpenStudy (shelby1290):
