4.1. The a is in an absolute value bar so it becomes 1.4. 1.4--2.7=4.1.

Yes. Lalo is partially right. You plug in the -1.4 and it turns into positive 1.4 b is negative and your subtracting so it turns positive. So you end up with 1.4+2.7
