When factored what are the vertex y = -2x2 - 4x + 12 and y = x2 - 4x + 3

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well you don't need to factor to find the vertex are you being asked to write the equation in vertex form and then state the vertex..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no I just want to make sure that I was right. I got that they both have the same vertex and i just wanted a second opinion if I was right or not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you think?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well you have an error in your work as the curves have different vertices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which one has a greater vertex

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well depends on the term greater the 1st curve is concave down and has a vertex that has a higher y value then 2nd curve is concave up... and has a lower y value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so what vertex did you use...?
