Why did the western Sahel become an important trade area?
I only need 1-2 sentences so can someone please help?(:
'Kay so here's what I know about you're initial question. The three African kingdoms of western Africa were the Kingdom of Ashanti now Ghana, the Mali Empire (now Mali), and the Songhai Empire (now Niger). The Rise of these kingdoms was due to the cultural leaders and fall of the West African Kingdoms was due to factors like devastating droughts, civilization.
So during the trade, Africa faced a drought of some kind and failed to provide the items needed for trade. Thus not getting essential items received to live and prosper as a kingdom.
Thank you so much!(: That helped a lot! I just need to figure the other ones out!
No prob. As for the other questions, I'll se what I can do. :)
Thanks!
Your welcome! :) Here's what I know about Sahel and their trade systems. In the kingdoms of Sahel, there was The Kingdom of Ghana. Ghana, was the first kingdom to benefit for "pack animals", introduced y Wolof Traders. The kingdoms wealth in states came from controlling the trans-Saharan trade routes across the desert, especially the slave trade with the Islamic world. The pack animals became useful to travelers. (The pack animals are camels and horses) They became useful in battles and trade, thus making them a vital resource in Sahel, not only for protection, but wealth in trade. Sheesh! This took me a while. Hope it helps! :)
