If the intercepts method confuses you, then you can isolate y and place the equation in slope intercept form. So you have to subtract 4x from both sides. Then divide both sides by -4 to isolate y. Then place the equation into y = mx+b form

$$\Large 4x-4y=2$$

$$\Large -4y=2-4x$$

$$\Large -4y=-4x+2$$

$$\Large y=\frac{-4x+2}{-4}$$

$$\Large y=\frac{-4x}{-4}+\frac{2}{-4}$$

$$\Large y=x-\frac{1}{2}$$
