During the process of photosynthesis, light energy is converted to chemical energy and then stored in the form of bonds of sugar. The process takes place in the chloroplasts, using chlorophyll, which is the green pigment in plant leaves.

Many things happen in photosynthesis. But, there is a general equation which is often used to describe photosynthesis: \(\sf \color{red}{CO_2 + H_2O + heat \rightarrow C_6H_{12}O_6 + O_2}\)
which basically says: \(\sf \color{blue}{carbon~dioxide + water \rightarrow sugar+oxygen}\)
