Why did the Muslim League propose that India be partitioned? Consider the events that followed. Do you think that the partition of India was the best thing to do? What problem does India continue to face today?

OpenStudy (nurali):

Partition would do no good for India and would only compartmentalise its problems. The problems they face are vast overcrowding and the huge disparity in wealth amongst its citizens, varying from desperately poor to fabulously wealthy. The social provision is very poor and its whole infrastructure needs to be modernised and employment found for its people. Health care and hygiene are also woefully inadequate. They also have perpetual political problems with Pakistan and worries about China in the north, but at least the Himalayas are a good barrier against Chinese military action.
