Is this a good answer to this question:Explain why antibiotics are ineffective against viruses?

Antibiotics are targeted at bacteria, and only break the cell wall down for bacteria. Antibiotics have no effect against viruses because they are not made nor meant for them.

Antibiotics do not target virus because the detection "system" is chemical. Magnets attract metal, and not wood. Imagine antibiotics being the magnets and the bacteria being metal, while virus are wood. Hope it clarified you a bit more
