A collection of nickels and quarters is worth $4.65. There are 3 more nickels than quarters. Use a system of equations to determine how many coins are in the collection. SHOW WORK & MEDAL REWARDED!!

you have 3 more nickels than quarters, so however many quarters there are , add 3 to see how many nickels you have. there are x quarters and x+3 nickels in $4.65. x(0.25) + (x+3)(0.05) = 4.65 now multiply everything. 0.25x + 0.05x + 0.15 = 4.65 combine the numbers on one side, and variables on the other side. 0.30x = 4.50, so divide both sides by .30. x = 15 so there are 15 quarters and 18 nickels.
