Can someone give me some ideas i have to write a 100 word introduction paragraph about whether or not animal testing should be aloud
“I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being.” ― Abraham Lincoln Maybe start your paper with a quote on animal rights and then state your position.
Balance the value to human (and animal) medicine against the harm to the animals.
“I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men.” ― Leonardo da Vinci According to Alex Gordon’s 2005 book, Animal rights: The argument of animal testing, animal testing was first discovered in 1859 by Charles Darwin to help him understand the human body. Since then, animals have been subjected to millions of test each and every year (p. 2). Everything from perfume to hand soap is tested on animals to see if it cause any harmful effects to humans. Animal testing involves inducing chemicals or substances onto the animal’s skin, pouring chemicals down the animal’s throat, and even putting chemicals into the animal’s eyes. Most of the time, when people think of animals, they think of something furry, cuddly, feathery, slimy, and something with a beak or lots of sharp teeth. However, many people do not think of life, a beating heart, feelings and receptiveness to stimulants. Take a minute to stop and think of this; after all, animals are not just big fluffy things, they are living, breathing, creatures that have been given a life just as we humans have. Many individuals believe that animals deserve to be treated ethically. This belief spurred the idea of animal rights – the basic idea that even animals, like humans, have certain inalienable rights that should not be infringed upon. Animal rights groups like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, are the main advocates for animal rights. Animal testing costs over $136 billion dollars annually for the American public, so animal testing is actually very expensive. There are almost 400 known alternatives for animal testing being considered. Only 2% of human diseases are recorded inside of the animal kingdom. Everyone, whether they are for or against animal testing, are very biased about their ideas but I will also tell you about the valuable things that are generated from animal testing. Many things such as cleaners, pesticides, and herbicides are tested on animals to make sure they are safe as well. There is little enforceable regulation when it comes to animal testing. There are certainly laws and ethical guidelines, but they’re generally broad enough that it’s easy for those performing the experiments to circumvent them. While an experiment testing for the biochemical reactions induced as a result of pain may produce valid, applicable data, there is nothing to prevent an experimenter from arbitrary cruelty.
