Grant Wood's painting American Gothic is 29 7/8 inches high x 24 7/8 inches wide. If the canvas you are going to paint a proportional reproduction is 28 inches high, then what width (to the nearest tenth) should the canvas measure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lengths are in ratio (29 7/8)/28, so widths should be in same ratio =(24 7/8)/w

Solve the equation: make the height ratio = width ratio in my first comment, then get w.

Might be easier to convert 7/8 to decimal 0.875

ok so how is the equation set up? @douglaswinslowcooper

see my first response and make those ratios equal to each other.
