what is the equation of a vertical line passing through the point (3, −5)? y = −5 x = −5 y = 3 x = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=3

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

a vertical line goes up and down. That means it will only cross the x axis and not the y axis. It is x = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you but can you show steps to solving the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you texaschic101

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

There is not really much steps to show. If it is a vertical line, it will be x =.....if it is a horizontal line, it will be y =....and you just look at your points (x,y). If it is vertical, it is x = whatever number is in the x spot. If it is a horizontal line, then it will be y = whatever is in the y spot. Does that make sense ?
