8-4/6x-7=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply each term by x, then collect similar terms and solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its no solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Combine like terms: -4/6x-1=8 -4/6x=7 Multiply each side by the multiplicative inverse of -4/6 you get: x=-10.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8x -4/6 -7x = 8x -4/6 = 7x x = -4/42 = - 2/21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But when substituting -10.5 for x, the equation checks out....or am I missing something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Maybe I am or maybe I have misinterpreted your equation. is your 4/6x really (4/6)x or 4/(6x), as I thought?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I read it as (4/6)x....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its no solution but im not for sure how it is how worked out. i put the equation in online

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how it is worked out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but was it "four sixths times x," or "four divided by the product of six and x??"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 over 6x-7
