Why is (2x + 2)^2 equal to (2x+2)(2x+2) and not (4x^2+4)

because (2x+2)^2 has a middle term, 8x

Because you are supposed to to distribute the 2 to all the terms in the parenthesis hence the answer 4x^2+4
