There is a large right triangle made into two smaller right triangles, both sharing the base of x. the hypotenuse of the largest triangle is 11, and this is cut to make the bases of the two smaller triangles. One is 8 and the other is 3. The sum of these comprise the hypotenuse of the largest triangle. How do I find the x they have in common, which is the altitude of each triangle, that was created by cutting the large right triangle into two right triangles..
