Ok, what is the difference between solving percent problems using proportions and solving percent problems using equations?

Why do I sometimes have to use proportions to solve percent problems instead of using equations to solve percent problems?

I know how to do this, im just confused on when to use which method Pleeeese help!

There is no specific method you have to use for different percent based questions.
Some people like to use proportions, and some use equations. Either way you find the same answer, right? For some problems, using a proportion may take longer than to just divide the percent, or vice versa. Maybe you could give an example so it would be easier to explain. x
