PLEASE HELP!! if f(x)=x^2 and g(x)=x+1 what is (fog)(2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you substitute the value of g(x) into the place of x in the f(x) equation, you get f(x) = (x+1)^2 which equals x^2 + 2x + 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now substitute 2 in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

substitute the value of g(x) into x for the equation of f(x) then substitute 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or you could substiue 2 into g(x) first. That would get you an answer of 9.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer choices are : 1. 5 2. 7 3. 9 4. 12 so its 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But either way it's the same answer.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! <3
