Yes, that is what I am thinking because back then people didn't always know what the West would hold, the West was soo full of adventure and the unknow people thought it was thier manifest destiny to travel, however, if you were poor you didn't have the needed supplies to travel you couldn't just go walking ya know? Also fyi i don't think it could B because they didn't always have what they needed in their communties.
