Find all solutions to the equation. (Enter your answers as a comma-separated list. Round your answers to two decimal places.) x^2 = sinx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is no algebraic way to solve for x. Just graph it

OpenStudy (agent_a):

The format of the answer gives me a hint that it's solvable though...

OpenStudy (triciaal):

do you have the ans 1,-1 ?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

cannot have the rt of neg x^2 =-3

OpenStudy (agent_a):

1, -1 is wrong...

OpenStudy (triciaal):

i thought so, thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I never said this is not solvable. I said there is not algebraic way to solve for x. Meaning you can not solve for x using algebraic manipulation. So the only way is to graph it

OpenStudy (agent_a):

@sourwing: I meant, "The format of the answer gives me a hint that it's solvable algebraically."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, it only said there are solutions. x = 0 or x = 0.88 by graphing method. If there were an algebraic way to solve for x, I will quit being a math major

OpenStudy (agent_a):

x = 0 and x = 0.88 is right. Thanks!
