help figure out x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4y-2=3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide both sides by 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was trying to find the inverse of

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

To isolate x divide by 3, you're doing the inverse of multiplication

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on just to make sure.... i was trying to do the inverse of

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=3x+2/4. am i even on the right track ????

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

3x is the same as 3 * x... So the inverse would be 3x/3 = x.. Divide every term by 3

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

I'm on my tablet I can't find much other than type, but just divide every term by 3 (division is the inverse of multiplication )

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Do much other than that *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so 4y-2= 3x 3 3 3 0.75 - (-1.5)=x 1.80=x????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont think i did that right...

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

4/3 is not the same as 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 1.33 - 0.66 = x?

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

What happened to y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.33y-0.66=x

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Yeah, you could also solve for you

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am lost very badly... i could find y by adding 0.66 to each side and then divididing by 1.33 but then what?

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Its only asking to solve for x so, x= -0.66+1.33y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is that the answer?

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Yeah
