what is the slope and y-int of this chart

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x|y -2|-2 2 | 10 6 | 66

OpenStudy (marigirl):

we can use y2-y1/x2-x1 to find the gradient. would u be able to do that for me on here,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10-(-2)/ 2-(-2) 12/4

OpenStudy (marigirl):

awesome. so we can say m=3

OpenStudy (marigirl):

now we can use y=mx+c plug in the m value y=3x+c then lets use a coordinate (2,10). plug it into the x and y value and solve for c

OpenStudy (marigirl):

can u do it on here so that i can see wht your thinking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10=3x+c (im guessing 2??) -2 -2 8=3x

OpenStudy (marigirl):

lets substitute (2, 10) into (x,y) y=3x+c 10=3(2)+c

OpenStudy (marigirl):

10=6+c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so c = 4 y-int = 4

OpenStudy (marigirl):

yes and ur equation is y=3x+4.
