The Nazi's came into power, and that's when everything changed. Families were broken,homes were destroyed,and businesses were ruined. We were the targets for this burlap attack. The Jews. My name is Lauren and my family and I have been taken to a camp.
We are in Amersfoort in the Netherlands. This camp is a transit and prison camp. I have been hearing it is less harsh then the other camps, such as extermination camps. We have been here since June 23, 1944. It is small, yet it contains about 35,000 prisoners. The Dutch Jews that resign here right now are slowly being sent away. My dad won't tell me where, but I know it's to extermination camps. It is very warm here, which makes sleep uncomfortable at night...not that we get much of it anyways. I am thankful I am still with my parents though, it is just us. The food here isn't good either. Don't supply enough. I can feel myself getting weak and it has only been one day...how much longer can I last? The Dutch Red Cross and Canadian Army is supposed to be sent here sometime soon. Oh, I hope it is soon. This is horrible.
April,1945:
The point of light has come. The Canadian Army has taken siege and is setting us free! Oh I am so thankful.

Okay so for this assignment it is EASY all u have to do is BE one of the children in the concentration camp and PUT YOURSELF in their shoes and really feel what they went through. So can you tell me anything about the Holocaust that you already know?? Because you must have some knowledge about the Holocaust in order to write this paper, Consider this little bit of info I found (JUST by reading the lesson) it will help you write your first paragraph about "Why were we persecuted?"
" The German people, in Hitler's view, were of the "Aryan" race, "the highest species of humanity on earth." The lowest were the Jews whom he blamed for starting World War I and engineering Germany's defeat. He called for their removal from Germany."So to begin your first paragraph you can put that in your own words and elaborate a little more about why the Jews were persecuted. Another point to consider is also "Antisemitism"
which means discrimination or "hatred for Jews."

Also be sure to remember to write this in FIRST person which means you will use statements such as "I, myself, we, etc..."Bottom line for this assignment is to think 'i am a Jew' and describe your experience as well as explain your knowledge of the Holocaust.
