Looking at the triangle on the right we can see that is has two sides the same, i.e.: it is an isosceles triangle. From this we know that the two angles opposite these sides will also be equal: i,e: \[180^{O} = 100^{O} + 2x \] so: \[x = \frac{180-100}{2}\] x= 40 degrees.
