Dilations Help :)

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

The coordinates of Trapezoid EFGH are E(4, 6), F(2, 3), G(4, 2), and H(8, 4). The image of EFGH under dilation is E'F'G'H'. If the coordinates of vertex G' are (2, 1), what are the coordinates of vertex H'? (4, 2) (2, 1) (4, 1) (6, 2)

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

my answer is A.. (don't remember how i got it) please explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you are scaling it down (dilating it down i guess) by a scale of 1/2 right? so to get from G to G' you would multiply each coordinate by 1/2 and you do the same with H :)

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

well for this example its obvious its 1/2 what if it wasnt obvious ? how would you find the scale??
