I got answer (A) for both of these. Is this correct?

Determine whether or not the following situations describe a function.

1. weight is a function of students in the class
a. Yes, because weight is unique for the students in the class
b. No, because weight is not unique for students in the class.

2. each person's IQ is a function of a math class
a. Yes, because each input has one output
b. No, because each input has more than one output.

what do you mean by functions? like linear function? saying that all students in 1st and 2nd question have or don't have a pattern to which they all fit?
