In Toni Morrison's book, "Beloved," the narrator describes the time when 124 as a place like a stop over for runaway slaves. But when Sethe came, 124 changed. On chapter 9 (I believe), Baby Suggs changed and the narrator says: "Her faith, her love, her imagination and her her great big old heart began to collapse twenty-eight days after her daughter-in-law arrived." My question is: What does the 28 days mean? My teacher gave us a hint that is from a woman's cycle (or ovulation). I'm sorry if its too vague.
